About Nicki

Photography has always been a part of my life. I’m a second generation photographer having learned the craft from my father and uncle. My Dad, Glenn, was one of the first photographers in the United States to do outdoor portraits and I’ve loved that style ever since. Portrait of Nicki Edwards When I was a young girl, my siblings and I posed for Dad and then I started helping him create his beautiful portraits.

When I first started my career, I used locations around town and had a talent for finding beautiful, out of the way, places to do portraits. I still enjoy doing that, but then I was able to move out to the country and start my “portrait ranch” where I do a lot of my photographs. But I still like location work. I especially like to go places that mean something to my subject, whether it’s a family home, the beach, the mountains or some place special.

It was so hard to give up my film camera and become a digital photographer but Photoshop has made up for it. I love to make everyone I photograph look fabulous, improve the background or combine images so that everyone looks their best. My goal has always been to have my clients say: “I’ve never had a better portrait”. I also like to give them so many good portraits that it’s very difficult to choose their favorites. It gives me a thrill!

Because of my dedication to a quality, I produce prints and albums which are as perfect as I can make them. It’s important to me that you absolutely love your images.

Portrait Tips

Solid colors work best- remember, light things look bigger and dark things look smaller in photographs.
Wear dark colors for your pants and skirts. Girls- avoid short skirts and if possible, cover your shoulders.
Try to select tops that are darker than your skin tone.
If multiple families will be photographed together, each family might wear a different dark color. For example, grandparents might wear navy, family 1 might wear dark green and family 2 might wear burgundy.
Photo-gray glasses will turn dark in the sun. Remove lenses or get empty frames from your optometrist.
Wear comfortable shoes fit for rough terrain.

Children's Portraits

Children do very well with outdoor photography and my acre-plus studio allows lots of freedom to explore. I have a lot of patience with kids, but my general rule is (learned the hard way) "under 6? before 10 a.m.!"
I want your child to enjoy the photography session as much as I do.

Portrait Tips

Solid colors work best- remember, light things look bigger and dark things look smaller in photographs.
Make sure your child is fed and well-rested.
Please feel free to bring a special toy.
Wear comfortable shoes fit for rough terrain.
Children under 6 years of age respond best to a portrait session before 10am.

Senior Portraits

This is my favorite type of photography. I love this age group and enjoy getting them to relax and take great pictures.
I really like helping them choose the correct clothing for the their session and encourage them to bring memorabilia like letterman's jackets, class rings, sports or music equipment to include in some of the portraits.

Portrait Tips

  • You can wear any clothing that reflects your personality, but try to choose one outfit that is darker than you skin tone and a solid color for a classic look. I enjoy helping you choose the right outfits, so bring plenty of choices.
  • Please feel free to bring special props such as letterman jackets, your class ring and musical instruments. Please call before you bring pets.
  • Photo-gray glasses will turn dark in the sun. Remove lenses or get empty frames from your optometrist.
  • Wear comfortable shoes fit for rough terrain.
